Xiaomi Mi5 release date is just right around the corner as the company teases an event which most likely introduce its latest flagship.

According to the tech company's Weibo account, Xiaomi has set up an event on July 16.Though the invite doesn't reveal much of details of the upcoming event, "it does offer what could be a first look at the Mi5," Techno Buffalo reported.

"We see the super-thin profile of some sort or device with curved corners. It also appears to feature a metal frame or even a unibody design. It's tough to say for sure, though we won't have to wait much longer to find out." (via TechnO Buffalo)

Ahead of the official launch, the Xioami Mi5 has been revealed to come with a "Plus" variant which will be the first smartphone to run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 coupled with a 4GB of RAM.

As per on its TENNA listing, the larger version will sport a 5.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a Gorilla Glass for its screen protection. It measures 155.1 x 77.6 x 6.95 mm and weighs in at 160 grams.

It will also pack a 13MP main camera with dual-done flash and a 4MP shooter on the front.

On the other hand, Xiaomi Mi5 will sport a 5.2-inch Quad HD display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass. Under the hood, will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 13-megapixel front-facing camera and a 3,000mAh battery.
