George RR Martin Blast Emmy Awards 2015 Nominations For Snubbing 'Outlander' And Other Shows

"Game of Thrones" season 5 was the biggest winner in Emmy Awards 2015 Nominations announced last week. The HBO TV series based on novels by George RR Martin got nods for Best Drama Series, best actress for Lena Heady (Cersei Lannister) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), and more.

Martin is happy and proud for what "Game of Thrones" received from the Emmy critics. In fact, it has the most number of nominations. However, he is also upset that some "deserving" shows were snubbed.

Martin took to his LiveJournal account to express disappointment over Emmy Awards 2015 Nominations.

"'Game of Thrones' faces the usual formidable competition for the "Big One," the award for Best Dramatic Series... but as distinguished a list as that is, there are so many incredible shows that did NOT make the cut that it boggles the mind. It's great to see 'Better Call Saul' and 'Orange Is the New Black' on this list, but where is 'Masters of Sex'? 'The Knick'? 'Halt & Catch Fire'? How about ['Vikings']?" he wrote.

The 66-year old American novelist was more particular about the snub of new Starz series "Outlander"in the Emmy Awards 2015. This show made headlines this year for its steamy scenes, great writing, and brilliant portrayals of its three lead characters Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balde and former "Game of Thrones" actor Tobias Menzies who had critics raving for his portrayal of Jack Black.

""I really thought 'Justified' might make it, for its final season. And 'Outlander', how in the world did they overlook 'Outlander', with its music and its costumes and its cinematography and the incredible performances of its three leads (especially Tobias Menzies in his double role)? Why is Nick [Offerman] not on the ballot for 'Parks and Recreation'? How could 'Big Bang Theory' possibly fall off? Truly, the Academy (of which I am a member) moves in mysterious ways."

Winners of the Emmy Awards 2015 Nominees, the 67th edition of the annual award show, will be revealed on May 31, 2015.
