Will fans finally get to see Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice 2" in theaters?

While nothing is concrete yet, there are rumors claiming that the "sequel" to the classic horror-comedy film is going to start production this year.

Well the rumor did not actually come from scratch, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly Seth Grahame-Smith seemed to have revealed that "Beetlejuice 2" is going to start shooting this year.

"I know Tim is excited about the idea. Where it stands now is Tim's got to get ready to make ['Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children'], and then hopefully we are set, deals are done, and we're waiting in the wings ready to go right after 'Peregrine's' wraps up. The ideal timeline is we're really getting into it toward the end of this year."

In that same interview, Grahame-Smith also revealed that original cast member Michael Keaton is most definitely going to return in "Beetlejuice 2."

"I've emailed with Michael Keaton. I know he's excited about the idea," Grahame-Smith said.

If Keaton is in, well Winona Ryder is reportedly also going to return.

"[Burton] was doing press for 'Big Eyes' right before the holiday, and was getting the 'Beetlejuice' question, and sort of tipped people off that Winona [Ryder] would be back. Which yes, she will be back," Grahame-Smith told EW. "I think we landed on the right idea, landed on the right approach. It's just now making sure that -- for me -- I don't want to shit my pants in front of the entire world making a sequel to one of my favorite movies."

In fact in a previous interview with HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri at the Sundance Film Festival, the 43-year-old actress already announced her involvement in "Beetlejuice 2."

Meanwhile, Tim Burton who's still pretty much busy with his other movies, explained that he thinks "Beetlejuice 2" is not really a sequel. He did not reveal though if it's either going to be a reboot or a spin-off.

"There's a script now, that I think is closer to what it could be and I'm excited about it," Burton revealed through Yahoo! Movies. "I wouldn't call it so much a sequel, but it'll have some characters [from the original 'Beetlejuice']. It's a bit too early to say but it's definitely something that's on my radar and something I'd love to do."
