"Daredevil" season 2 cast Job Bernthal, who will play the Punisher, had fans raving.
Many fans of the Marvel character thought the former "The Walking Dead" star is perfect for the role that will be join Charlie Cox who plays the title role.
It should not be surprising that fans feel that way because according to Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada, they made it a point that new members of the cast of the hit Marvel/Netflix series will be world class like Cox.
"We're so happy to have Jon Bernthal because we have such a world-class cast on Daredevil; we have a world-class actor in Charlie Cox that we want to make sure we chose and were able to attain an actor who is on that same level so I think the combination of seeing Charlie and John perform those parts on the same screen. It's going to be epic, absolutely epic," Quesada said in an interview with IGN.
It is not just Bernthal who will join the "Daredevil" season 2 cast. The Netflix TV series surprised comic book fans around the world when it announced that Elektra, Matt Murdock's ultimate love interest, will also be part of the second season.
Elektra will be played by "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" star Elodie Yung. Like Bernthal, Quesada said they meticulously picked the actress for the role of Elektra as part of the "Daredevil" season 2 cast.
"[We] scoured the world for the right Elektra and, man, she is the character. She looks like the character, she walks like the character, and then she has the martial arts training and stunt background that she can rely on. It's going to be really, really awesome to see her take over the role and see how she embodies and how she personifies Elektra."
There is no "Daredevil" season 2 release date yet but patience will be all worth it as Quesada himself assured that it will be phenomenal.
"That's why we pay our amazing Writers Room the big bucks. Doug Petrie and Mark Ramirez, the co-showrunners, have concocted an amazing series, an amazing season this year and believe me, sparks will fly and it's going to be pretty phenomenal."
