‘Supernatural’ Season 11 Dealing With Myth Of All Myths? Angels And Demons ‘Fear’ The Darkness

Jul 28, 2015 09:45 PM EDT | By Pam Amantiad

The Winchester brothers were left in a cloud of scary-looking darkness during last season's finale. Although they will reportedly survive for "Supernatural" season 11, the force that the brothers unleashed will be making several entities antsy.

According to TVLine, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean's (Jensen Ackles) best friend, Castiel (Misha Collins), will be out of commission as he will still be dealing with the attack dog spell put on him by Rowena when the season begins.

However, he will have to quickly overcome the hex for him to help the brothers in figuring out what to do with the mysterious big bad.

"It is a very, very big bad ominous force that angels only heard of as a scary bedtime story," Misha Collins, who plays the fan-favorite Castiel, reportedly told the site. "Cas didn't think that The Darkness was a real thing. So it's that old of a force."

Executive producer Jeremy Carver reiterated the actor's statement in an interview with Buddy TV during the San Diego Comic Con last July 11.

According to the showrunner, the Darkness that Sam, Dean, Castiel and Rowena (Ruth Connell) unwittingly unleashed will be "unlike anything you've seen on the show."

The Darkness allegedly fought with God way before the world or even angels and demons were created, meaning the entire plot will be about a pre-Bible event that even the angels didn't know about.

"Not even the Angels know what to expect from the Darkness. There's fear in Heaven and in Hell because the Darkness is a great unknown and threat," the report added about the Winchesters' new mission next season.

Meanwhile, Jensen Ackles told Popsugar that the episode he directed titled "The Bad Seed" would be an "expositional episode" with "a lot of advancing the mythology, getting more information about what's going on, figuring out where all the chess pieces are, and how we're going to play this situation."

Find out just how scary the Darkness is when "Supernatural" season 11 returns to the CW on Oct 7, 9 PM!
