Baristas Say No To Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz As President, They Want Sanders Instead

Aug 05, 2015 12:55 PM EDT | By Jon Lindley Agustin

Talk about moral support - or lack thereof - as Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz's own employees want another man as president of the United States instead of him, having been rumored to run.

Business Insider reported speculations that Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz might be running for president as a Democrat, with some media outfits even suggesting a slogan "Make America Grande Again."

The report said the Starbucks CEO is actually thinking of making his White House Bid, despite previous reports that had him saying no to becoming president.

Sharon Waxman of The Wrap, as reported by Business Insider, wrote a piece that said, "Schultz is mulling a run for president, headed straight for Hillary Clinton's right flank, just as Joe Biden aims for her left."

However, website Fast Company earlier reported the Starbucks CEO turning down rumors about his possible presidential bid.

"I have no desire to be in an elected position in government," he said in the report. "That's not what I'm trying to do."

Franchise Herald -- if the Starbucks CEO is indeed running for president -- asked his own employees such as the baristas, on what they think about this news.

Over Facebook, most of them want Senator Bernie Sanders in the White House, in what appeared to be a majority decision. He is running under the Democratic Party.

"The thing is Bernie Sanders is traditionally Green Party which is whom I chose to affiliate with but chose to run Democrat so he had a standing chance," Luna Muncie said on Facebook.

"Bernie Sanders is the only choice right now," wrote former Starbucks employee Eric Rietman.

Bernie Sanders is a senator who is now serving his second term after his 2012 re-election, his profile on his official campaign website said. Among his achievements were bridging the "toxic partisan divide" in Washington.

"Not that Howard is worse, more because of the disbelief running through my mind about our candidates," said barista Vincent Villella, who has been working for Starbucks since August 2014. "These people care about money, that's it. Let them be financial advisors, but God please don't let them run our country."
