A Sophisticated McDonald’s? From Table Services To Gourmet Burgers, Customers Are Loving It

Aug 08, 2015 02:23 PM EDT | By Jon Lindley Agustin

McDonald's has started to provide table services in its U.S. chains, where customers order through a touch-screen kiosk, head over to their table and wait for their meal to be served.

In a recent report on CNNMoney, McDonald's table service is an effort to rebuild its image and conquer declining sales.

The company released a statement in the report saying it is "significantly investing in... restaurants to create an exciting new environment and improve the customer experience."

Along with the touchscreen option, McDonald's table service is also allowing customers to personalize their meals with various types of cheeses, buns and toppings, the report added. So if you ever choose to lessen or add more jalapenos in your burger, you can with this new service.

This particular McDonald's table service has been reportedly used in Australia, France and Germany and now the fast food giant's chains in the U.S. have started to roll out this service.

CNNMoney added there are 50 locations in the U.S. where McDonald's table service is being tested.

McDonald's gourmet burger?

Aside from McDonald's table service, the fast food giant is reportedly having a gourmet burger in a store at the corner of Third Avenue and 58th Street in New York, the New York Post reported.

This is reportedly part of a menu feature called "Create Your Taste," where customers are chefs creating their own burger combinations.

The ingredients are said to include Sriracha mayo, smoked bacons and grilled mushrooms. The writer of the report was able to try ordering the gourmet burger.

"It's worth the wait," he wrote. "My creation is yummier than any McDonald's burger I've had before. The sirloin patty has real beef flavour, and the Sriracha mayo has a restrained kick. The stars, however, are the carbs."

He added, "The artisan roll and crunchy tortilla chips make the sandwich taste fresh, and, dare I say it, texturally complex."

It seems like McDonald's is already recovering from the sales slump.
