[PHOTO] ‘Agent Carter’ Season 2 Villain Is Madame Masque! Iron Man Foe To Face Peggy In LA!

Peggy Carter's (Hayley Atwell) move to Los Angeles won't be a vacation as she'll be confronted by "Agent Carter" season 2 villain, Madame Masque.

"Our villain from the season is very much a Marvel villain that we co-opted a little bit like we did Dr. Fennhoff in the first season," executive producer Tara Butters told SlashFilm.

Last month, Franchise Herald reported that it was already teased that Peggy will be facing comic book villains in season 2 with Butters saying comic book fans will recognize them.

But as long-time Marvel fans may know, Madame Masque didn't debut until 1968's "Tales of Suspense" #97 and the show is set in the 1940s. For this reason, EP Chris Dingess added that they've "put [their] spin on her."

"I think we've changed the look of her a bit obviously. We've made her an actress, which is very Hedy Lamar. She was a '40s siren actress who was also a scientific genius, so that's part of what we're mining with this character," Butters said of the "Agent Carter" season 2 villain.

According to the Marvel Database, Madame Masque's alter ego is Giuletta Nefaria, daughter to Count Luchino Nefaria who sent her to the Frost family who gave her the name Whitney Frost. Upon the death of her adoptive parents, Nefaria sent for his daughter to take his place in his criminal organization, the Maggia.

While at first she refused, Madame Masque eventually joined her father. She was disfigured in one of her early missions forcing her to wear a golden mask to hide her face.

She is a frequent villain to Tony Stark aka Iron Man and, though without superpowers, is a skilled combatant, marksman and proficient in disguise.

"Although we don't know what precise role Madame Masque will play in season 2, don't be surprised if we get a similar scenario involving Whitney's face being scarred, thus ruining her acting career and making her even more evil," Cinema Blend said.

Butters revealed they've already cast the role of the "Agent Carter" season 2 villain but aren't allowed to announce who it is yet. The show is expected to premiere in the 2016 midseason.
