Archos Announced 50 Cesium, The First Windows 10 Phone To Debut At IFA 2015

Archos announced its upcoming Windows 10 based 50 Cesium which will be showcased at IFA 2015.

Microsoft's Window 10 OS has been installed on over 75 million PC and laptops, while its mobile platform version isn't ready for release yet.

However, Archos, a French manufacturer of affordable Android phones confirmed that its Archos 50 Cesium will be its first Windows 10 based smartphone and will be released in November, GSM Arena reported.

The Archos 50 Cesium will make its first public appearance at the IFA 2015 where participants of the event will experience first-hand the Windos 10 mobile OS.

According to Neowin, the Archos 50 Cesium which falls on the mid-range category sports a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720 by 1,280.

Under the hood is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor clocked at 1.1Ghz paired with 1 GB of RAM and backed by a 2,100 mAh battery. There is also an 8GB onboard storage and supports external memory expansion. Camera-wise, there's an 8 MP rearcamera with flash and a 2 MP front snapper.

While other feature include 4G LTE cellular connectivity (Cat. 4, meaning download speeds of up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50 Mbps); dual-SIM support; and physical dimensions of 147 x 72.5 x 8.5 mm (weight is unknown at this point), BetaNews added.

Aside from the Windows 10 powered Archos 50 Cesium, Archos also announced two upcoming Android based smartphone that will also appear at IFA 2015, the Archos 50e Helium and Archos Diamond S.

The Archos 50e Helium runs Android 5.1.1, but it is "almost identical" with the 50 Cesium. Both phones will be priced at £99 when it goes official in November, GSM Arena continued.

On the other hand, Archos Diamond S features superior specs with "5-inch 720p touchscreen with Gorilla Glass 3 for screen protection, 16 MP rear camera with LED flash, an 8 MP selfie shooter, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, MediaTek's MT6753 SoC with a 1.5 GHz octa-core CPU, and a 2,300 mAh battery."
