‘Point Break’ Remake New Trailer Gets Bashed! Luke Bracey And Edgar Ramirez Have No Chemistry?

Sep 25, 2015 10:10 PM EDT | By Mic Florendo

A new trailer for "Point Break" remake was just released; and again it failed to impress the die-hard fans of the original film.

Kathryn Bigelow's 1991 action thriller starred Keanu Reeves (Johnny Utah) and Patrick Swayze (Bodhi) while Ericson Core's remake features Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez.

According to The Wrap, the new film will go international and will consist of extreme stunts such as skydiving, snowboarding, mountain climbing, and base jumping.

The 26-year-old Aussie actor infiltrates a team of extreme athletes led by the 38-year-old Venezuelan actor. They are responsible for a series of corporate heists called "The Ozaka Eight."

The first trailer of "Point Break" remake debuted last May and fans expressed their disappointment via Twitter. With the new trailer out, would Alcon and Warner Bros. be able to get the approval of the audience?

Unfortunately, the new clip still got bashed by several movie review sites.

"Don't worry, this doesn't look any better than it did in the first trailer did, and we highly recommend ignoring this and just renting/rewatching the original 'Point Break' multiple times instead," First Showing said.

Screencrush, on the other hand, pointed out how important it is for the lead stars to have chemistry just like the bromance of Keanu Reeves (Johnny Utah) and the late Patrick Swayze (Bodhi) in the original film.

"We don't want to judge a movie we haven't seen, but it's hard to imagine Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez capturing that same sense of totally-platonic-we're-just-bros-really love that defines the original," the website said.

"[Kathryn] Bigelow's feminine touch transformed what should have been a rote action movie into a clever examination of masculinity," they added. Apart from not having that chemistry, Screencrush thinks that the actors look bored, Robin Hood-types of Bodhi's gang is eye-rolling, and the action sequences look like an antique compared to "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation."

Find out if the reports are true by checking out the new trailer for "Point Break" remake below. The movie is scheduled for release on Christmas Day 2015.
