‘Shovel Knight’ Retail Version Cancelled For Xbox One, Confirmed By Game Developer; Vita Version Could Be In Tow

Yacht Club Games confirmed that "Shovel Knight" retail version won't be arriving to Xbox One console.

Due to "publishing policies on that platform that are totally beyond our control" the retail version has been cancelled, however the digital version will still be available for purchase, Digital Trends reported.

"We'll keep fighting to get a retail version on Xbox One, but as of now, the boxed version is in indefinite limbo. The digital version of Shovel Knight on Xbox One is already available and will, of course, continue to receive new updates and our full support," Yacht Club Gameswrote on its blog.

While the retail version for Play Station 4, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Europe exclusive PC version release date has been pushed back.

These versions' new release is now slated on Nov. 3 in North America and Oct. 20 in Europe.

Along with the change of its release, Yacht Club Games also announced that the game will cost higher than originally announced.

"In an unexpected turn of events, we've had to raise the price of our game to $24.99," Yacht Club Games continued.

"Although everyone initially agreed to a $19.99 price point, some retailers ran into trouble with limited space to show off their wares, and the rules in place about where games with certain prices are displayed. We didn't want our 'bargain priced' game to go straight to the bargain bin of obscurity, so we had to raise the price."

As for fans who had been clamouring for a PS Vita retail version, they stated "we can confirm one won't be shipping this holiday, we are still working our hardest to make it possible!"

Meanwhile, "Shovel Knight" amiibo release date could be finally announced soon, and the game developers have been considering to open its pre-orders for North America.
