Snapchat Friend Emojis: Red Heart, Smiling Face Meaning Decoded; Save Data With Travel Mode

Oct 16, 2015 11:28 AM EDT | By Jason Fonbuena

Find out the Snapchat friend emojis meaning that came with the update. Also, did you know the app lets you save mobile data with Travel Mode?

Friend emojis in Snapchat aren't just random icons next to your friends' names. Emojipedia lists their meaning so they're easy enough to find out.

For instance, the yellow heart means that person is your #1 best friend. Red heart or pink hearts mean that person has been your #1 best friend for two weeks or two months straight, respectively.

Emoji faces on the other hand tell you how your friends interact with each other. A grimacing face means you have the same #1 best friend with that person. Smirking face means you're that person's #1 best friend but not the other way around.

A friend with a smiling face is a best friend but not currently the #1.

Enjoying the new emojis so far? The good news is that you can keep on using them as much as you want - even when using your mobile data with a new feature called Travel Mode.

"When enabled, this new feature will prevent content from things like Stories from automatically loading in the background when your smartphone is on a cellular connection," CNET said.

With the feature on, you can save money by not exceeding your monthly limit.

To activate Travel Mode, swipe down on the main screen to see your Snapcode. Tap the Settings icon and find Manage on the Additional Services part. Activate Travel Mode by tapping on the box next to it.

Before activating the feature though, be sure you have the latest Snapchat update on your iOS or Android device.
