The synopsis talks about an "unexpected source." Who is it gonna be? There is a higher chance that it won't be Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) whose shoulders have always been available for Liv in the past. Now that Pres. Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) officially made his relationship with Olivia public, Jake is certainly out of the picture. But, is he, really?
Scott Foley hopes their love triangle is not yet over.
"I hope not! It seems like it's over right now; I don't know what I'd do if it were over forever!" he said in an interview with Variety.
"You never know, the show has done such a great job of playing out that love triangle, and it seems like she's with Fitz now, and they seem happy, and I'm excited to see what happens with them."
Although Jake is already estranged to Olivia, he might find solace in ex-wife played by Mia Maestro. Although this wife of Jake had a grand entrance, it seems she is already set for the most horrible exit as she was shot in the latest "Scandal" season 5 episode.
She will survive for now since "Scandal" season 5 spoilers said she is up for a recurring role. Also, according to Foley, there is an awesome episode centered on Jake and Maestro's character.
"If she pulls through [being shot], there's something interesting happening with Jake and his wife, how strange!" Foley said in the same interview.
"I didn't know [about her], I had no idea! And I found out that 'Jake's' not his real name, which is sort of interesting! So I think there's more to come on that front."
