Kristen Wiig Shared Her Thoughts About ‘Ghostbusters 3’ Controversy! ‘It Really Bummed Me Out’

Many fans were disappointed when Paul Feig announced early this year that "Ghostbusters 3" will be an all-female reboot of the classic horror comedy.

The 2016 movie will feature Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon.

Just recently, the star of "Bridesmaids" shared her thoughts about the sexist comments.

"The fact there was so much controversy because we were women was surprising to me," Wiig told Los Angeles Times. "Some people said some really not nice things about the fact that there were women. It didn't make me mad, it just really bummed me out. We're really honoring those movies."

Back in April, one of the cast members of "Ghostbusters 3" sent her message out to all the critics.

"Come on, man. It's not that hard to see women do a role that a man was supposed to do," Leslie Jones told MTV. "I mean, get over it. It's just a movie, man."

The director of the reboot also shared his thoughts about the feedback he has been receiving on social media.

"The first wave when you make an announcement like that is overwhelmingly positive. Everyone's so happy and you're like, 'This is great'," Paul Feig told Variety. "Then comes the second wave and you're like, 'Oh my God. Some of the most vile, misogynistic sh** I've ever seen in my life.'"

Despite the controversy, the cast and crew has wrapped up filming "Ghostbusters 3" and they managed to get the support of the original cast.

It has been confirmed that Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts will make a cameo in the reboot.

However, Rick Moranis who starred as Louis Tully in the 1984 film isn't thrilled about appearing in the reboot. The 62-year-old actor revealed to The Hollywood Reporter why he had to turn down the cameo.

"I hope it's terrific. But it just makes no sense to me," he said. "Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?"

Catch some of the original cast appear alongside Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon in "Ghostbusters 3" on July 15, 2016. The reboot also stars Chris Hemsworth and Andy Garcia.
