"We owe so much to our service members, and we're honored to show our gratitude by serving free meals to our military heroes every year on Veterans Day," Applebee's President Mike Archer said in a press release. "By partnering with The Mission Continues, we look forward to connecting the newest generation of veterans with our Guests and Team Members to continue their service and make a meaningful impact in our neighborhoods throughout the country every day."
The offering is part of the grill and bar's Thank You Movement, which includes platinum singer and songwriter Gavin DeGraw, and collaboration with non-profit organization Mission Continues.
"Veterans who report for duty with The Mission Continues are driven to serve others," Eric Greitens, Navy SEAL, chief executive officer, and founder of The Mission Continues said in a statement. "We're proud to partner with Applebee's to share with their millions of Guests how veterans continue to serve their local neighborhoods here at home."
Veterans can choose items from seven ounce house sirloin, bacon cheddar cheeseburger, three-cheese chicken and sundried tomato penne, fiesta lime chicken, double crunch shrimp, chicken tenders platter, and oriental chicken salad.
The meals are available during the regular operating hours of each location. Veterans cannot use traditional sides, the two for $20 appetizers offer, other side or menu items, beverages, desserts, and tips.
Veterans will need to show that they have been in the service through several documents. These documents include a United States Uniform Services Identification Card, United States Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, photograph in uniform or wearing uniform, DD214, and Citation or Commendation.
