NBA Trade Rumor: Latest On Mario Chalmers Situation And Memphis Interest

Nov 10, 2015 01:42 PM EST | By Rolly Gacelo

Memphis Grizzlies are currently four spots away from a playoff spot and it looks like they badly need changes in the team. The team has been dragged to latest NBA trade rumors in the past weeks and the latest of which is the one involving Miami Heat's Mario Chalmers.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Heat and Grizzlies has already agreed on a deal that will send Chalmer to Memphis which also got James Ennis. Miami now has Ben Udrih and Jarnell Stokes.

Although the two francise got same number of players, it is Miami who got the good end of the deal as they saved $2.5 million in salary by releasing Mario Chalmers.

How badly does coach David Joerger need another point guard? Reports say Grizzlies are not adamant on gambling on veteran Beno Udrih. They also don't want to invest on reserve Russ Smith. Team's no. 1 point guard is Mike Conley who is somehow making a good account of himself but other than him, they need more output from the back court.

"Presumably, the Griz are looking to replace backup Beno Udrih," Commercial Appeal said about the NBA trade rumor.

"There quietly has been disappointment behind the scenes with Udrih's perceived lack of conditioning, athleticism and defense. The belief in the organization is that third-string point guard Russ Smith isn't ready yet to be a rotation player for the Griz at that position."

The website added Udrih is still bothered by the surgery on his ankle injury during off season, reason why Grizzlies cannot get anything out of him

For Chalmers part, he is not bothered by recent NBA trade rumors saying it is all part of the business. That does not matter anymore as the NBA  trade still pushed through.

Potential Memphis Grizzlies-Miami Heat trade was first reported by Martin Stein on November 4.

"Season's first bit of NBA trade scuttle dribbles in: ESPN sources say Grizzlies have discussed potential deal for Miami's Mario Chalmers," Stein said on his Twitter account.

He added: "No trade imminent yet, I'm told, but sources say that the Grizzlies and Heat have discussed a potential Chalmers-to-Memphis swap."

This is not the first Mario Chalmers was involved in an NBA trade rumor. Palm Beach Post wrote back in September that Chalmers, as well as Chris Anderson is about to be shipped as the team is looking to clear its salary cap.
