Will Fitz get stuck in the friendzone when it comes to his feelings for Simmons?
The latest revelations about his colleague's time in another mysterious planet cause so much pain for SHIELD agent specializing in weapons technology. Will his love be reciprocated? Latest "Agents of SHIELD" season 3 spoiler will excite their fans.
"Their relationship will visibly change forever," executive producer Jed Whedon tells Entertainment Weekly when asked about the FitzSimmons ship.
"Their chemistry is something that was conceived, in creating the characters, as two people who are inseparable. We talked about many different versions of that before casting it - they're like brother and sister who are always bickering and they complete each other's sentences, drive each other crazy and are totally co-dependent."
In earlier "Agents of SHIELD" season 3 spoiler, Elizabeth Henstridge said her character and Iain De Caestecker's will be emotionally far from each other after the latter learned that Simmons had a lover during the six months she went missing.
"We can't see a path to them being good together again for a while," she said in an interview with Comicbook.com.
"But for right now, they're putting all that aside and just concentrating on doing the right thing, which is trying to get this man that saved Simmons' life back home."
Whedon's wife Maurissa Tancharoen, who is also the executive producer in the Marvel-ABC TV series, said every character are rooting for them but the two are a little hesitant about the idea.
"For a while, that was the beautiful thing about the FitzSimmons love story is that, to everyone around them, it's so clearly obvious that they should be together," she said "but to Fitz and Simmons, it seems like the most absurd idea ever to be anything beyond friends, working partners and each other's best friend."
