"Doctor Who" season 9 episode 9 titled, "Sleep No More," aired last Saturday, Nov. 14. Watch the full live stream online here or here.

This week, the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Clara (Jenna Coleman) embark in a new adventure centuries into the future. Catch up with last week's episode 8 here, if you haven't already.

Episode 9's official synopsis doesn't really give away much, only that it takes a page from the "found footage" genre of horror films.

"This terrifying story is assembled from footage discovered in the wreckage of Le Verrier Space Station," it reads.

Thankfully, the episode's writer, Mark Gatiss, was on hand to shed more light on "Sleep No More." Owing to its inspiration, he told TV Insider that episode 9 will be "very dark."

"It's a very dark episode physically and thematically," he said. "And there's something about the immediacy of handheld footage which just feels real, more creepy. Darkness is our friend."

But the Doctor and Clara won't just be watching the footage. They'll be in it as well, as Gattiss confirmed.

The "Sleep No More" writer also revealed a new "Doctor Who" monster, called the Sandmen, will be introduced in the episode.

And with just a few episodes left in season 9, could episode 9 set up the events of Clara's exit?

"All I got as a steer, in terms of how Clara is in this episode, was that she must become almost too cocky," Gattis said. "That she's actually almost becoming the Doctor herself, which I know will have implications."
