Former One Direction member Zayn Malik recently confirmed that he and Liam Payne are both reuniting for a brand new project.
In an interview with Fader magazine, Zayn Malik revealed that he is finally talking with One Direction member Liam Payne again, this being the first time he left the group in March this year. The reason, accordingly for Zayn Malik and Liam Payne's reunion is that the two will be working together for a new music.
"I spoke to Liam about two weeks ago," Zayn told Fader. "It was the first time I'd spoken to him since I left the band, and I rung him, and he wanted to talk."
Zayn added, "He said that he didn't understand it at the time, but he now fully gets why I had to do what I did. He understands that it's my thing, that I had to do that, and that basically he wants to meet up and sit down and have a good chat in person, and he wants to do some music and work on some stuff aside from being in the band, which we always wanted to do anyway."
On their Nov. 18 appearance in "The Ellen Degeneres Show," Liam Payne was the only one to respond among the One Direction members when the host asked if they still talk with Zayn Malik. Liam confirmed that he and Zayn talked a couple of times. Hollywood Life, in its report, speculates that Zayn hasn't talked yet to other One Direction members Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson since he left.
In the same interview with Fader magazine, Zayn Malik opened up about how he is much better off without One Direction. "It's a nice feeling to come out of a place where you are being told what to do and just to be upset because of certain expectations or certain things that people wanted to see," Zayn shared, saying that there was never a room for him to experiment creatively when he was still with One Direction.
"This is just all my perspective and that's fully liberating. I won't be able to give you one standout moment where I was like this is what I want to do, because I guess I just always kind of knew [that I would leave]."
