Diana Gabaldon Talks Complains About Delay In Starz TV Series 'Outlander' Season 2 Release Date

"Outlander" season 2 release date will not come until next year, almost one and half a year since its last episode in its first season.

This does not sit well with some followers of the Starz TV series. Those who grew impatient even came up with "Droughtlander" to express their annoyance about the show taking too long to return.

Diana Gabaldon, the author of the "Outlander" novel series where the show is based from, says setting "Outlander" season 2 release in a farther date has something to do with production.

"They complain bitterly about what they see as the delay in putting on the next series as they have no idea how long it takes to make an episode," she told Scotsman.

"It literally takes four weeks of filming and another four weeks of post-production but if they want to do day-time scenes everyone has to get up really early in the morning to get the first hint of daylight."

Gabaldon also talked about the challenges they meet while filming in Scotland.

"It's been pretty bad weather for about three quarters of the time I've been on set," she adds. "It's been quite difficult for them because of the problems with moving equipment through mud, rain, snow and everything, but on the other hand they are rather used to it."

Showrunner Ronald Moore previously said that "Outlander" season 2 release date could be around March or April next year.

"Outlander" season 2 will pick up shortly from where it left off in the first season. Claire (Caitriona Balfe) is pregnant with first child with Jamie (Sam Heughan) who is still struggling emotionally from the ordeal he suffered in the hands of Jack Randall.

"Claire is dealing with her pregnancy and [wondering], how do you support someone going through a trauma like [Jamie's]? How do you help him get over it, or get past it?" Balfe said in an interview with Blastr.

"The idea they have of changing the future, she uses it like a mission and something for Jamie to put his focus and energy into so he's not dwelling on what's happened. In a way she sacrificed herself a little bit because she's dealing with her pregnancy on her own in a way. They are going through a very complicated time in their relationship. It's not an easy time for them, but it's beautiful to watch how they figure out a way to support each other."
