Move over Taylor Swift, the world's highest paid musician goes to Katy Perry and Forbes has revealed the reason why she took the top spot in their list. According to the website, the main moneymaker in the music industry now is touring.

The 31-year-old singer has earned a total of $135 million in 2015 - grossing over $2 million per city during her Prismatic World Tour. Based on their count, the "Roar" hitmaker played 126 shows throughout the year. She also got several endorsements including Covergirl, Coty Perfume, and Claire's Collection.

Apart from being the highest-paid musician in the planet, Katy Perry is also the top-earning celebrity - coming next to boxing superstars Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. Just 5 million short from the pop singer's earnings, One Direction took home a total of $130 million because of their tour as well.

The British boyband headed by Harry Styles, played 74 shows and each earned them a seven-figure amount. Coming on third on the list is country musician Garth Brooks, who earned $1 million each show and he usually does back-to-back shows in one night.

The fourth place went to Taylor Swift who was named by Forbes as the "Highest-Paid Celebrity Couple" together with Calvin Harris. She only earned $80 million while her boyfriend had pocketed $73 million." Maybe if John Mayer had started touring and working on a new album, then there's a chance that he and Katy Perry will steal the title from the "Bad Blood" hitmaker and the Scottish DJ.

The fifth place went to legendary rock group, The Eagles, who had received a total of $73.5 million. Calvin Harris, Justin Timberlake, Diddy, Fleetwood Mac and Lady Gaga all made it to the Forbes' "Top Ten Highest-Paid Musician" list.

Since it's been revealed that touring is a major factor in a musician's earnings, then fans can expect to see more shows and concerts from their favorite singers or bands happening in 2016.
