Xiaomi Mi 5 release date might take place on Jan. 21, 2016.

Rumors about the Xiaomi Mi 5 have been ramping up since it first leak a few months ago.

Today, an unnamed source posted on Wiebo a live image of the upcoming flagship device.

According to BGR , the image was a bit blurry, but reveals the smartphone's resemblance with the Mi Note phablet.

However, the Xiaomi Mi 5 appears to have a slimmer bezel. It also noted that the live image do not match the leaked press render. So, it's still early to debunk previous rumored details of the Mi 5.

Phone Arena added, the Xiaomi Mi 5 alleged live image features two speakers grilles below the physical home button.

Reportedly, Xiaomi Mi 5 will be the first smartphone to carry Qualcomm's Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. But with the presence of a physical home button this rumor has been ruled out.

Anaylyst Pan Jutang claimed, Xiaomi opted for an FPC fingerprint sensor instead of Qualcomm's. Because Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is still unstable.

However, it functions better as "they do not need buttons or sensors to function, not to mention that they can be placed under a device's screen," Tech Times reported.

Specs-wise, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is rumored to sport a 5.2-inch display with a 1,440 x 2,560 resolution. It is also being said to support the first on Apple iPhone 6s's Force Touch or 3D Touch pressure sensitive technology. While under the hood will be the latest Snapdragon 820 paired with 4GB of RAM and internal storage is said to be non-expandable.

Moreover, its battery is expected to be powered by a less than 3,00mah battery. For its camera, it'll come with autofocus, optical image stabilization and dual-LED flash features and a 6MP secondary camera, PC tablet reported.

Stay tuned for Xiaomi Mi 5 official release date.
