'Outlander' Season 2 Release, Spoiler & More: EP Thinks Sam Heughan Should Get Globe Nomination

For many fans of Jamie and Claire, waiting for "Outlander" season 2 release date, which was frustratingly moved back, can be painful.

"Outlander" season 2 release date is by March or April next year, according to executive producer Ronald Moore.

While this seems sad for many, the show's multiple Golden Globe award nominations have that feeling somehow erased.

The Starz show based on novels by Diana Gabaldon is competing for the Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actress for Caitriona Balfe and Best Supporting Actor for Tobias Menzies.

It would have been a perfect night except that Sam Heughan, who plays outlander Jamie Fraser, was snubbed. Many entertainment critics agree that the Scottish actor should have gotten a nod from the prestigious awards show.

For Moore, he thinks Heughan should have been there. He thinks he, Balfe, and Menzies are a package.

"I agree," he told TV Line when asked about the snub on his actor. "I wish Sam had absolutely been recognized, too. We always think of them as the Big 3 on the show. He's a huge part of our success, so that is disappointing. He absolutely deserved to be recognized, as well."

In another interview, Moore said Heughan already won in their hearts since he is a big part of the show.

"He was a huge part of the success of the show. We've always thought of he, Cait, and Tobias as our big three," Moore told Entertainment Weekly. "It's just a very competitive year, a very tough field. I wish Sam was included, but in our hearts he absolutely is because he's incredibly deserving."

Many critics rave on Heughan for his portrayal of Jamie Randall, who in the first season went under psychologically and emotionally damaging ordeal in the hands of Jack Black (Menzies), that includes torture and rape.

Although that scene is tough to pull off, 35-year-old said it is a "gift" to be able to be a part of such sequence.

"It's a gift for an actor to play. It's something I relished, and I know Tobias did as well," Heughan told Zap2It.

"Honestly it's some of the most challenging, rewarding yet intense work I've ever done. I'm so proud of what we've done."
