And while Jon Snow's survival in "Game of Thrones" is slowly being teased, it seemed like George R.R. Martin has also no other choice but to let Ned Stark's bastard survive in "Winds of Winter."

And while there hasn't been any direct announcement to Jon Snow's survival yet, fans have started to go back to Martin's former statement about the beloved character's fate in his novel.

"Oh, you think he's dead, do you?" Huffington Post quoted. "He answered when asked if Jon Snow is really dead.

Reminding fans that they "should know better than to take anything as gospel."

While he hasn't announced the official release date of "Winds of Winter," George R.R. Martin has not failed to tease spoilers for his upcoming opus.

"This is going to drive your readers crazy but I love it," he teased of the novel's plot.

"I'm still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It's a great twist. It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations. Otherwise, it's just being shocking for being shocking."

Following the recent "GOT" teaser, fans are now hoping that someone from George R.R. Martin's side could provide an update about "Winds of Winter."

What's concrete is that the 67-year-old novelist previously told Entertainment Weekly that he is aiming to have the novel released before "Game of Thrones" season 6 airs in April.

"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish," he explained. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done."

Fans are hoping that "Winds of Winter" release date could happen early next year.
