Fish Tank Bursts in Downtown Disney Cafe, Staff Save Species (VIDEO)

Mar 18, 2014 12:58 PM EDT | By Justin Stock

Restauranters were quite surprised when a fish tank inside the T-Rex Café in the heart of Orlando Disney began spewing water Monday Fox News station WGHP reported.

"I think the seam in the tank split but the rest was still intact," Kate Wallace WGHP. "Water began gushing out immediately."

"We were sitting about 20-feet away," Wallace told WGHP. "The people sitting at the table next to it did get wet... I don't know how they could have avoided it."

Despite the ordeal, Wallace was happy with how the restaurant employees responded to the incident.

"The staff did a great job of springing into action. They were clearing guests out of the immediate area, trying to contain the water and working to save the fish," Wallace told WGHP. According to WGHP restaurant staff headed to the scene in a flash to try and preserve the fish.

"There was a lot of commotion. The whole section just sort of went crazy," Wallace told The Orlando Sentinel.

At least a few customers detailed what they saw in a post on their Twitter accounts.

"Having dinner at TRex Cafe in Downtown Disney when - all of a sudden - a fish tank burst open!" Wallace said in a post on her account.

"Wow. Was just at T-Rex in Downtown Disney just now and the glass to a giant fish tank just cracked and water started pouring out," Michael Pappas, another Twitter user said in a post on his Twitter account. "Then about four waiters climbed in and started scooping up the fish. It was chaos. Everyone in our section had to leave," Pappas said in the post.

Staff had to put some of the tables in the restaurant in other places throughout the food establishment WGHP reported.

According to The Sentinel, ten to 15 bystanders stuck around to take photos of the spectacle.
