Foo Fighters News: Jack White Bashes Foo Fighters With 'Playing The Same Part', Calls Out Rolling Stones Cover Of Taylor Swift

Sep 18, 2014 03:21 PM EDT | By Fred Yelland

In Foo Fighters news, 'Lazaretto' singer Jack White took stabs at Dave Grohl and the rest of the band while performing a show in Fenway Park, Boston. White started his 'rant' saying "most performers don't use microphones anymore, you know,". He continued by saying that the Foo Fighters' reason for having two guitarists "playing the same parts" is that one can cover the other's mistake. He even called out Rolling Stone's for their latest cover with Taylor Swift, mocking them by saying they publish articles like "15 outfits that will blow your mind that Taylor Swift wore this month".

He wrapped up his speech with: "OK, I'm officially supposed to stop now, because this is becoming a Kanye West-esque rant. Because apparently, nowadays, you aren't allowed to speak to your own fans about anything, lest it be a rant."

So forget ISIS, forget the war in the Middle East, forget any problems at home, forget gay marriage, forget everything you ever thought about everything. This not a rant, this is just me saying, "Hello Cleveland!"

Foo Fighters hasn't made any comments yet on the subject. The band is currently promoting their 8th studio LP, coincidentally recorded in 8 different studios, in 8 different cities across the States will be accompanied by Sonic Highways, the documentary set to broadcast on HBO, which will document the process of the making the album.

Guests to appear on the new record include Public Enemy's Chuck D, Fugazi's Ian MacKaye, the Eagles' Joe Walsh, Heart's Nancy Wilson, Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen, Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes and Kiss frontman Paul Stanley.

The cities included are Chicago, Nashville, Los Angeles, Austin, Washington, D.C., New York, Seattle and New Orleans. Studios involved with the project include Rancho De Luna in Seattle; Steve Albini's Electrical Audio in Chicago, and Washington, D.C's Inner Ear Studios. Each episode will feature interviews from artists who recorded at the respective studios. Among them are Paul Stanley of Kiss, Ian Mackaye of Fugazi, Joe Walsh of The Eagles and Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick.

With Grohl on director duties, Sonic Highways is set to debut in October 17, following his directorial debut in 2013's Sound City. The singer/guitarist describes the project as "a love letter to the history of American music."
