Cleveland Cavaliers roster and rumors revealed that the Cavs have already completed their 20-man training camp roster, but they are still waiting for Ray Allen to make his free agency decision.
The Cavaliers signed Chris Crawford, Lou Amundson and AJ Price to complete the squad, which will start their preparation for the 2014-15 NBA season on Saturday.
Coming off a long rest and with the high expectations ahead of them in the upcoming season, new Cavaliers coach David Blatt said that his players should be ready for a tough training camp. And it appears that even Kyrie Irving won't get a rest following his MVP-winning performance for Team USA in the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.
"We have a lot of guys who have been through this before. Even our younger players like Kyrie, Dion and Tristan, they're not rookies," Blatt said in a Cleveland Cavaliers roster and rumors update on Ohio.com. "We're not laden with guys that haven't been through the rigors of the NBA. I think we can hit the ground running, move a long a little bit faster and shorten the gap between being a new team and being a winning team."
James Jones, who signed with the Cavaliers to continue playing alongside LeBron James following their four-year run with the Miami Heat, is also excited to get it going, while also reiterating that the camp will be good way to analyze their chances next season.
Jones, who signed a one-year deal for $1.4 million earlier in the offseason, is still hoping that Ray Allen will decide to sign with the Cavs, and general manager David Griffin insisted that they are not giving up in their pursuit of the sharp-shooting veteran.
"I don't think we'd ever give up on him," Griffin said of Allen. "Until he signs, that's going to be a target for everybody."
Allen, who averaged 9.6 points and 2.8 rebounds last season, is being targeted by several teams, including the Cavs, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers.
