Iron Man 4 News: Robert Downey Jr. shut down all rumors of a fourth installment in the Iron Man series. The "Sherlock Holmes" actor told Variety.com: "There isn't one in the pipe. No, there's no plan for a fourth Iron Man."

His red and gold armor will be seen next in the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers: Age of Ultron. It's also been reported that the actor has signed on for a third Avengers movie, as reported by Mirror UK.

As previously reported, although Iron Man will appear in an upcoming Marvel film, it won't be in Iron Man 4. Fans of the playboy billionaire are still hopeful in avoiding disappointment, waiting on the fourth installment of the franchise to get a release date.

The actor is reportedly in talks with Marvel in renegotiating his contract as the resident Iron Man, aiming for a paycheck above what he received in Iron Man 3.

Earning $75 million this past year, Robert Downey Jr. was again named the highest paid actor in the Forbes list, with most of his success attributed in playing the role of Iron Man.

In a recent interview, Downey, 49, hinted that he is still open in playing the role, saying the final decision rests in Marvel's hands. He was quoted saying "It's down to Kevin (Fiege, Marvel Studios President) and Ike (Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment) and Disney with what proposal is, and that's on us to agree or disagree."

In a separate interview the actor also said, "When things are going great, there's a lot of agreement" hinting that things could move forward positively".

Each Iron Man sequel has grossed more than the last one and could indicate that more fans are following the franchise which could mean another potential installment in the Iron Man series.

Fans are becoming more hopeful that Marvel considers an Iron Man follow-up after the company announced a calendar of dates for adaptations of comics at the 2014 Comic Con, which they intend on filming in the future with Iron Man 4 to be released in 2019 if the company follows tradition, having a 5 year gap between sequels.
