Facebook already knows tons about its users and their friends. Now, the social network wants to know more about their users' health. Facebook intends its user to have ready access to health care apps and health groups.

Facebook will not be the first to offer this kind of online health care monitoring system. Apple and Google are reported to be developing similar apps. Various sources have confirmed that Facebook is already taking steps to develop the needed apps and services.

Sources cautioned that the Facebook plan is currently being develop and will not be available anytime soon. The plan involves the creation of at least two kinds of health care for the Facebook users. Various apps will be created and developed for "preventive care". Another healthcare idea that Facebook is exploring is the formation online support groups for people who have the same afflictions or ailments. The company's research team has observed that people with health problems are using Facebook to connect with others who have similar conditions. Users also use the site to seek medical advice on their illness.

Facebook once initiated an organ donor timeline in honor of the late Steve Jobs. The move was popular among online users. Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg were inspired by the success of the initiative. He and his wife Priscilla Chan decided to contribute to a Palo Alto Health Center.

In case the various health apps and service in development are release, they will not be carried under the Facebook name. The same Reuters interview said that the first apps will be release under a different name instead. Users will probably have second thoughts on sharing their medical information on Facebook due to privacy concerns.

Just recently, Facebook issued a public apology with regards to their tampering of users' newsfeeds to elicit responses. The social network company already eased its strict implementation of a rule that requires Facebook account holders to use their real name whenever they are using Facebook.
