Pretty Little Liars Star Janel Parrish Defends Burlesque Dance In Dancing With The Stars

Oct 15, 2014 10:34 PM EDT | By Staff Reporter

Pretty Little Liars star Janel Parrish revealed to Access Hollywood just last week that her burlesque dance for Monday's Dancing with the Stars was definitely going to be "real naughty". Parrish and pro partner Artem Chigvintsev have proven to be true to their promise.

Janel and Artem, who were paired for Switch Up week, had received a few criticisms after they performed heatedly up the ballroom.

Professional ballroom dancer, country music singer and actress Julianne Hough who is also a two-time professional champion of ABC's Dancing with the Stars, had told the pair, "There's no denying that was extremely sexy, but to me, that was not burlesque. Burlesque has a cheekiness and quirkiness... that was really raunchy and sexy."

The 25-year-old actress defended her move, which had a score of 33. After the show, she gave a comment to Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson. She said about the show's first-ever burlesque routine, "I think it's a sexy dance from what I've seen. It's usually a dance with women, so when you throw a man in there, it's going to get a little sexy."

According to the other judge, Bruno Tonioli, he disagreed with Hough, and happily raving after the burlesque performance, "Never too sexy for me! There's not a person in the country who will need Viagra tonight!"

Parrish was quick to comment on her critics, "If our biggest crime tonight that it was a little too sexy, it's OK with me. I think we had an amazing time." She added, "It was fun and it looked hot."

Parrish will return to her regular partner, Val Chmerkovskiy on Monday's Dancing with the Stars at 8 PM on ABC.

Last September 4, 2014, Parrish was announced to be one of the celebrities who will compete on Dancing with the Stars' 19th season. She is paired up with professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy.
