A good number of for-a-cause programs has been started via Twitter and two of the most recent and most popular ones were the #IceBucketChallenge and the #nomakeupselfie. The #IceBucketChallenge, as you may be aware of, stirred up quite a frenzied bunch, especially Hollywood stars, professional athletes, and even politicians. For those who do not have that much idea, #nomakeupselfie, was the Twitter trend that did not only increase awareness about Cancer, but also helped the Cancer Research U.K. to get millions of donations.

Now, according to several news reports, another campaign has been started via Twitter and this is none other than the "Wake Up Call" selfie campaign.

According to Sky, several celebrities have already taken part in the newest campaign, which involved tweeting a photo of themselves taken right after they wake up including the hashtag #wakeupcall in their post. Seeing that it is one of the latest charity works, these participants have also donated £5. They also nominated three of their friends to do the same thing.

As UNICEF has explained, the brains behind this latest charity program is none other than Jemima Khan, the organization's U.K. Ambassador. Basically, the #wakeupcall trend is in support of the work that the organization is doing for the Syrian youth. Celebrities such as Stephen Fry, Tom Hiddleston, and Keeley Hawes were some of the first ones to have responded to and participated in the newest Twitter cause.

The NY Daily News has also revealed the names of other celebrities who joined the campaign, including Paris Hilton, Naomi Campbell, Alexa Chung, Nicky Hilton, Poppy Delevingne, Natalie Imbruglia, and Liam Neeson among several others.

As of today, the conflict taking place in Syria has left about 6.5 million children affected, as reported by UNICEF. The organization is seeking the help and support not only of celebrities such as those mentioned above, but also of people who have the means to do so. By simply taking a picture of yourself the first thing in the morning, tweeting it with the hashtag #wakeupcall, making a donation, and nominating three friends, you can already make a big difference in extending assistance to the children burdened by the conflict in Syria.
