The Flash series is introducing new villains and characters each episode. Grant Gustin's Barry Allen is set to battle a lot of bad guys in the show. For Candice Patton, who plays Iris West, Allen's supposed love interest, that is a welcoming more characters is a good thing. Despite her character not getting much air time, she knows that people will get to know about Iris West in the coming episodes.
Patton sat down with Newsarama for an interview and there, she discussed things to expect about her character and the whole the Flash series. As for Iris West, she thinks it is receiving quality exposure.
"I think in all the episodes we shot, you learn about each character more and what they are pursuing in life. I've done great scenes for Iris: Iris and Barry, Iris and her dad, as well as Iris and Eddie. That's a very complicated situation, with Barry changing and Iris slowly falling in love with Eddie... while also Iris' relationship with her dad is changing. There are a lot of good scenes for my character," she said.
When asked if the Flash series will follow the footsteps of comic stories, like for the fate of Iris West and Barry Allen who ended up together in the comics, Candice Patton said she isn't sure where the story would go. One thing she's sure though is the fact the creators always make it a point that they will stay true to the comics.
"I'm very aware of the history between Iris West and Barry Allen, as well as where they ultimately end up in comics. To some degree it does play a part in how I interpret the scripts, but I personally have no idea where the TV show's creators and producers will go. We're hoping for a lot of seasons, but we can't get there by next Tuesday. At the end of the day, the creators and writers want to give long-time Flash fans something they'll want to see. So far we've stayed pretty true to the comics, but I don't know what will happen ultimately."
The CW network series is now on its fourth episode titled 'Going Rogue'. This episode will feature Wentworth Miller as the DC comics villain Captain Cold. It will also feature Emily Bett Rickards' Felicity Smoak from Arrow.
