Will Alfonso Ribeiro Drop Out of Dancing With The Stars Because Of His Injury?

Nov 17, 2014 01:29 PM EST | By Staff Reporter

Dancing With the Stars' Alfonso Ribeiro might have ended his dreams on remaining inside the dancing show. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star, who is currently a front-runner for the Mirrorball trophy of season 19, might have to pull out of the dancing competition before the up and coming semifinals on Monday, November 17. This was confirmed by a source to Us Weekly.

The breaking news was first reported by TMZ. Ribeiro accidentally injured his back during rehearsals this week and sources had revealed to the site that he was trying to "over-compensate for a groin injury" that he previously sustained during his performance of The Carlton Dance just last month.

Just this Friday morning, November 14, Ribeiro was still attending the rehearsals for his upcoming routine with his pro partner, Witney Carson. Of course, Ribeiro was just attending and not participating. A source have revealed to Us magazine that Ribeiro was watching his partner dance with a stand-in, and he really hoped to learn the steps just by watching. But the producers are really "worried he could cause long-term damage to his back."

The 43-year-old actor has not been at full capacity since the first few days of October, when he and his partner Carson performed their signature moves from The Fresh Prince. The dancing routine had earned an outstanding score from the judges but it unfortunately left the star in terrible pain. Two weeks later, the actor said, "I hurt my groin doing the Carlton. I think I did it so hard that I actually pulled it."

Despite the unfortunate event, Ribeiro still continues to be one of the best dancers in the show and is also among the top-scoring duos week after week. He had earned his second impeccable score just a few days ago on November 10. The perfect score was for a paso doble he and his partner did with their fellow DWTS dancers Lindsay Arnold to DJ Snake and Lil Jon's Turn Down for What.
