Users of Samsung Galaxy S5 need not to wait until December to receive the update. They can now install Android 5.0 Lollipop update on their Samsung Galaxy S5 devices.

It was expected that Samsung Galaxy S5 users may receive the update by December and tied with a contract users may need a little longer until early next year.

The CyanogenMod 12 alpha port for Samsung Galaxy S5 has been compiled by recognized XDA contributor albinoman887, with contribution from elelinux, Cyanogen Inc, Team-Kang, and MrTrip. The CM12 port is, for the moment, only available for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 variants, so those of you with the SM-G900F Exynos variant will need to wait a little longer to preview Android Lollipop update on their variant of the Galaxy S5, reported by Android Origin.

Meanwhile, IB Times added that, "According to the CyanogenMod team, the CM12 ROM is not a final version, and so it lacks some popular features found in other CM builds. In addition, the ROM could also have some performance-related issues that developers are expected to resolve in upcoming updates, The Android Soul reported."

It is advisable that the battery level is at least 80 percent. Samsung Galaxy S3 users also need to make sure that the appropriate USB drivers are already installed on the computer so the Android device can easily connect to the PC.

Furthermore, creating a backup for all the files installed on the smartphone is necessary. ClockWorkMod is one of the most recommended recovery tools for making a backup. Make sure that the device is a Samsung Galaxy S5 with a Qualcomm CPU."

Note: Install at your own risk.
