Despite being busy being wanted in every awards show in Hollywood, "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch still managed to make his presence known during a fan's funeral.

Eve Shepherd, 14, died suddenly on Feb. 1 after respiratory difficulties, according to the Warrington Guardian.

"I send my deepest sympathies to Eve's family," the Oscar nominee started in the letter that was read aloud during the service at the Padgate Methodist Church last Feb. 23.

"To lose someone so young who fought for her health all her life must be beyond endurance," he added.

The cheerful child had been struggling with her breathing after receiving a tracheotomy while she was just a baby. She was dubbed the "miracle baby" after living through the 24-hour ultimatum that doctors gave her.

She was just 28 weeks when she came to the world, weighing only 700 grams, but Shepherd continued to defy the odds and managed to come home after spending the first five months of her life in hospital. She also continued to leave a normal life, even playing the clarinet despite her respiratory setback.

"I hope they can take solace from the fact that she was clearly much loved and her support of our show is hugely appreciated and shall be remembered," "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch proceeded to say in his letter.

The Birchwood High School student had been such a huge fan of the BBC show that attendees of the funeral service wore deer stalker caps. The series' theme was also played as a tribute to the TV show that the young girl loved so much.

"I wish I could be there but sadly am filming the show she loved," the recently married British star continued.

"God rest her soul," he closed the letter. "With all my love and sympathies, Benedict xxx".

According to Shepherd's parents, Mark and Jane, their daughter would be giggling at the thought of getting a letter from "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch himself.

"Eve would find this funny as she was a big TV and film fan. She would be giggling her head off at the thought she was in the newspaper," her father added.
