Paul Pierce News: Retirement Could Be The Next For 'The Truth' After That Heartbreaking Exit Of Washington Wizards

Washington Wizards had a good run in the NBA playoffs and they have 17-year veteran Paul Pierce to thank for that.

The DC team lost to Atlanta Hawks in Game 6 after the Truth's buzzer beater was ruled off as the referee assessed he let go of the ball after the buzzer.

Despite that, the shooting forward earned the respect of basketball fans for remaining a clutch player despite the all the wearing years he spent in the league. The problem now is that might be the last time people get to see the heroics of Paul Pierce.

In an interview with Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post, Washington Wizards star Paul Pierce said he might not have anything left in the tank for next season.

"Truthfully, what was going through my mind is, I don't have too much of these efforts left, if any," Pierce said. "These rides throughout the NBA season, throughout the playoffs, are very emotional. They take a lot out of not only your body, but your mind, your spirit," he said.

"I don't even know if I'm going to play basketball anymore."

Paul Pierce also discussed how that painful Game 6 loss of Washington Wizards to Atlanta Hawks, among others, affects his life with family and friends.

"It affects not only you, but the people around you," Pierce said. "Days like this, you go home and you're around your family, you don't feel like talking to them or doing anything because of what the game does. It takes a bit out of you. You go home, and it's not a good day. It affects the people around you. It's tough. People think you just play basketball, go home and your body is sore. No. Mentally, the people around you, it affects. I know I'll go home and won't have any words for my wife or my mom. Probably the only thing that can through to me right now is my kids. They bring me joy."

Before moving to Washington Wizards, Paul Pierce played one season for Brooklyn Nets. He is more known as a Boston Celtics legend where he won one championship and one finals MVP. If ever he will retire, he will go down with 10 NBA All-Star appearances, and three-time All-NBA Third Team.
