The DC Cinematic Universe has laid out its plan for the next five years. The shared universe of DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. will go full swing next year through "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Other featured films are "Suicide Squad" (Aug, 2016), "Wonder Woman" (June 2017), "Justice League: Part One" (Nov. 2017), and more. DCU lined up a total of 10 confirmed motion pictures for its iconic comic book characters. However, there is one missing from it. There is no "Man of Steel" sequel.

The Superman film was a 2013 hit but DC and Warner Bros haven't made any announcement if there will be a "Man of Steel" sequel. This film, which earned $668 million, is the starting point of DC shared cinematic universe with lead actor Henry Cavill expected to reprise his role as Superman in several films slated through 2020.

According Cavill himself, chances for a "Man of Steel" sequel is still there. In fact, thoughts about it never really died.

"There's plenty of time for individual Superman sequels," the actor said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "He's a tough character to tell. People like the darker vigilante. I think it speaks to the human psyche more easily rather than the god-like being that we can't really understand. Once we have a more expansive universe we can delve more into the character of Superman and hopefully tell more stories."

"Man of Steel" movie was criticized during for its ultimately dark tone that is opposite of how Superman/Clark Kent was portrayed in earlier films and in comics. Some critics also panned because Superman allowed too much distraction and got many civilians killed. Director Zack Snyder was surprised by these comments and he thinks it is the way it is supposed to be told when someone very powerful comes to earth with the mission destroying it.

"I was surprised because that's the thesis of Superman for me - that you can't just have superheroes knock around and have there be no consequences," Snyder told EW.
