Xbox One August Update Begins To Roll Out For Preview Program Members, Minor Fixes Issues On Various Features

Xbox One Preview Program members may now try the recently released firmware update for Xbox One, dubbed xb_rel_1508.150712-2200, Gamepur reported.

According to SegmentNext, the update one went live at 6:00PM PT 7/15 (2AM GMT 16/7) as per Microsoft's patch note issued.

This month's update highlighted that there are no "user facing" changes, and minor fixes would be implemented on the update.

Xbox One August update brings the following: (via Segmentnext)

-Mass Effect Backward Compatibility: When streaming Mass Effect using Twitch through Snap, a black bar is output on the stream output (both in the browser and through the Twitch app).

-Turtle Beach Elite 800X Headset: Participants using this headset are unable to hear the host when moving from one party to another party.

-Xbox Fitness: When resuming from Instant-On mode and with Xbox Fitness suspended, you may encounter a frozen Kinect preview image, and Kinect interaction will not resume.Workaround: Hard reboot the console.

As for Xbox One July update, Microsoft also confirmed that update will not bring "user-facing feature", but would prepare the Xbox One for the upcoming Windows 10 launch on July 29 that will bring game streaming to the console and will allow Xbox One games viewed on Windows 10 tablets or phones.

It will also support backward compatibility to Xbox 360 games. Whereas, Xbox One Preview program members have already access to this feature which currently has 20 games. (via Polygon)

Also, Microsoft recently explained the integration of Windows 10 and Xbox One in terms of users gaming experience.

"Communicate with your friends on Windows 10 PCs and Xbox One - while playing any PC game. You can capture, edit and share your greatest gaming moments with Game DVR, and play new games with friends across devices. You can play games on your PC, streamed directly from your Xbox One console to your Windows 10 tablets or PCs, within your home. Games developed for DirectX 12 in Windows 10 will see improvements in speed, efficiency and graphics capability." (via

The Xbox One Preview Program is an invite system, which current members may invite other players using their gametags, Gamepur added.
