While fans are getting anxious with how George R.R. Martin is seemingly delaying the "Winds of Winter" release date, a new detail about the novel has been revealed.

Following the highly controversial and probably the most grieved "Game of Thrones" season finale, fans are clamoring to hear news about its connection with "Winds of Winter."

George R.R. Martin has bravely revealed a rather interesting detail on his Not a Blog post called "Off to Spokane," when a fan asked him, "alright Mr. Martin, lets cut the crap, is Stannis alive or dead(?)."

The author without any hesitations replied, "In my books? Alive, beyond a doubt."

While Stannis' future may have been answered, fans are still waiting to read about Jon Snow's fate in the "Winds of Winter" come its release date.

Snow may be dead in "Game of Thrones," but his fate remains to be seen in the novel, and that is what fans are waiting to find out.

While George R.R. Martin has remained tight-lipped about details involving Jon Snow, the acclaimed author did discuss details about his "Winds of Winter" novel explaining how it differs from "Game of Thrones" production.

"You have to separate the two," he explained in report by Winter is Coming website. "You have to realize they have similarities but they are two different mediums, they are two different versions of the same story."

Martin further promised that "Winds of Winter" will be packed with "great twists" despite the release date delays.

"This is going to drive your readers crazy but I love it. I'm still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It's a great twist," he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

The author continued saying, "It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations."

"Otherwise, it's just being shocking for being shocking. But this is something that seems very organic and natural, and I could see how it would happen. And with the various three, four characters involved... it all makes sense."
