Paypal Holdings Inc. will be expanding its free return service called "Return Shipping On Us," which is now available in the U.S., according to a report from Techcrunch.

Paypal is expanding the service in hopes of increasing its percentage of online holiday sales.

Techcrunch adds that Paypal has made the Return Shipping On Us service live in 37 markets worldwide as of Tuesday morning, Oct. 13, 2015.

Paypal also timed the U.S. launch with the kick-off of the holiday shopping season.

Techcrunch reported that Paypal said they saw a spike in holiday sales last year, which began on Sept. 30, 2014.

The company expects the same trend of early shopping to continue this year.

Marketwatch also mentioned that Paypal is expecting for the overall e-commerce spending to grow by 10 percent in 2015 to $50 billion.

But the added high shipping costs are discouraging a lot of shoppers to shop online.

Marketwatch adds that more than half of online shoppers globally are being discouraged to make repeat purchase due to high return shipping costs.

About 48 percent of Americans view shipping cost as a necessity.

Jo Lambert, vice president of Consumer Product and Engineering at Paypal, told Marketwatch that the free return shipping service will give consumers more confidence.

"Return Shipping on Us can save consumers money, and give them more confidence when they shop knowing they will not incur return shipping costs if their purchase was not quite right," he said. "Options like refunds on return shipping costs, formerly considered a perk or promotional tool offered by retailers, are now integral to getting a consumer to click that buy button online."

Techcrunch adds that since Paypal has extended the Return Shipping On Us service to the U.S., the company has made the option available to its biggest market.

This expansion will impact the company's bottom line and lift its sales.

Techcrunch adds that customers just need to fill out a form and provide a copy of their sales receipt to use Return Shipping On Us.

The claim has to be filed with two weeks of shipping then Paypal process the refund within 10 to 14 days.
