Apple's iPhone 6 is undoubtedly, one of the most anticipated smartphones still yet to be released, challenging current contenders on the market the Galaxy S3, Sony's Xperia Z2 and the LG G3.

While the rumors building up to its launch have been unrelenting, Apple has already given consumers a sneak peek of what might be in store for the market thanks to the unveiling of iOS 8 at WWDC 2014, with Apple insiders hinting a bigger screen display, larger storage space, an improved camera, and the reappearance of the 5s' fingerprint sensor, Touch ID. There's also talk that the IPhone 6 will be casted from Liquidmetal, a lighter alloy used in the 5s, with claims that the new IPhone will be the slimmest model ever to be produced.

While these improvements seem essential, insider reports say it that the super-slim profile will likely pose as a challenge in production as they become more difficult to assemble, therefore potentially delaying its release. These reports, however, failed to mention a definite timetable of the production and when the devices will be launched.

Like in its previous release the IPhone5 and its half step model the 5s, Apple is expected to release 2 variants of the iPhone 6.  The standard 4.7-inch model and a larger 5.5-inch model, which is a combination of a phone and tablet. It will be Apple's biggest iPhone release to-date.

Foxconn, the China based electronics manufacturing giant who is in charge of assembling the new iPhone are hard at work with Apple, undoubtedly their largest and most important client.  Reports also say that Foxconn founder and chairman, Terry Guo has been paying personal visits to factories supervising, ensuring all production lines are in "optimal condition" as mass-production is nearing.

Numerous reports say that the standard 4.7-inch already went into production earlier in May, and the 5.5-inch this July, it's increasingly likely that we will see it be released in September.

Update:

Apple has officially announced a special event on September 9, revealing the new iPhone 6. This also means rumors; leaked photos and all speculations can be put to a halt. Recode (source) confirmed the news of Apple's event and suggests that the iPhone will be bigger and released in 2 models.
