The Amazing Spiderman 3 Release Date Delayed Until 2017 Could Possibly Be Sony’s Tactic To Increase Box Office Sales, Production Announces ‘Sinister Six’ Movie

Ahead of the release of "The Amazing Spiderman 2", Sony announced a 2016 release date for "The Amazing Spiderman 3" and "The Amazing Spiderman 4" somewhere around 2018, with "Venom" and "The Sinister Six" also planned to get their own films.

Producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach gave a few details announcing, "We're going to do Sinister Six and Venom". Quoted also saying: "there's going to be a lot of crossover in the movies. So we're just not at 'Spider man 4' because we still have a whole other Spiderman movie and two other movies. So we don't know yet what [Spider man 4] is going to be.

Critics however, aren't too excited about the announcements of "Sinister Six" fearing that introducing too many unfamiliar characters will not gain the audience's interest, making it a villain's movie and reducing the friendly neighborhood hero to cameo roles.

This could prove true, because a report at Ain't It Cool News states that "The Amazing Spiderman 3" release date might end up being delayed up to 2017. While there's no confirmation of the report yet, it's not that hard to believe. The Amazing Spiderman 2 was estimated to earn $1 billion, but the movie only managed to make $700 million in the box office, which isn't bad, except that the first installment yielded to make $60 million more. It is likely that the rumored release will be delayed after all.

On a good note, Indiewire thinks that the delay is good for Sony's most successful franchise as 2016 is fully loaded with superhero competition, namely: Superman: Dawn of Justice, X-Men: Apocalypse, Captain America 3, Shazam and possibly Doctor Strange. Additionally, Tarzan, King Arthur, How To Train Your Dragon 3, Finding Dory, Planet of The Apes 3 and Independence Day 2.
