Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Release Date: After making a surprisingly potent $65 million at the box office this weekend, Paramount Pictures has announced details on a sequel to Michael Bay's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboot, with a release date to launch on June 3, 2016.
Adam Goodman, Paramount's President said "launching a new take on the 'Turtles' into the feature film world was a daunting task," but the massive reception of the film has left the studio feeling positive as they begin on the sequel.
"We felt a great responsibility to ensure audiences were going to experience everything they loved about the 'Turtles,' while also getting to see them brought to life in a way they had never been seen before," Goodman said in a statement, via Deadline Hollywood. "The result exceeded our high expectations and the response to the film is beyond great, making it all the more fun to get started on the continuation of their story."
Along with Michael Bay who reprises his role as producer is joined by Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) who are returning to writing duties on the script. It has not yet been confirmed, however, if Jonathan Liebsman will direct the upcoming sequel.
As mentioned by Deadline, the sequel will pit up against Seth Rogen & Jonah Hill comedy "Sausage Party", Alice In Wonderland and Bryan Singer's "X Men: Apocalypse" on the day of its release.
