Another epic battle is set to grace the big screen in 2016, and it will reportedly showcase a balance between reality and fantasy in ancient Egypt-gods, monsters, magic and all.

In "Gods of Egypt", peace is disturbed when a pathological god played by Gerard Butler seizes Egypt. Rebels rise to oppose and seeks alliance with another god, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Lead by Brenton Thwaites' character, the rebels wage war against the Butler's character and his minions of darkness and death.

Director Alex Proyas, noted for his work in "I, Robot" (2004) began shooting early February of this year, in Australia under Summit Media.

"Gods of Egypt" cast member Gerard Butler, who plays the role of the god of darkness named Set, is no stranger to epic adventure movies. His portrayal of King Leonidas in "300" (2007) gained him global recognition and from then on, skyrocketed his career.

Another cast member who plays the god of the sky, Horus, joins as one of the leads. He's been in the industry since 1994, but has online gained popularity through the HBO series "Game of Thrones" as Jaime Lannister, and movies such as "The Other Woman" (2014) with Cameron Diaz.

Bek, the human thief, is played by newcomer Brenton Thwaites. He is an Australian actor who appeared in the Fox series "SLiDE" as Luke Gallagher.

Other cast member include newcomer Courtney Eaton, Geoffrey Rysh as Ra, Elodie Yung, and Bruce Spence among others.

While the film is already in post-production stage, media bandwagon for promotion is still unavailable for fans save for the "Gods of Egypt" cast news and release date. Official trailer release is still to come, as well as posters and other promotional materials.

Hopefully information on 'Gods Of Egypt' cast news, release date, trailer are updated soon and made available for anxious fans eager to experience Egypt in another light.
