Apple Q3 Sales Growth All Thanks to iPhone 6

Apple reported a 13 percent profit increase for the last quarter, as well as 16 percent increase in iPhone sales.

An increasing demand for larger screen phones helped boost the recently launched Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, according to Wall Street Journal.

Apple reportedly bested out Samsung this year, whose tough competition now shifted to Chinese manufacturers.

Apple's is making a comeback, thanks to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus which were introduced just last month. Both phones have larger screens which is the growing trend in the smartphone market today.

According to the Apple CEO himself attested to Apple's achievements saying that the way the market received iPhones was "better than expected" as proven by the combined sales of the devices topping the sales of the iPhone 5S last year wherever both devices are offered, even if the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus costs $100 more than the 5S.

"We knew it would be good, but it's selling faster than we even thought. It's clear that this is a big one," Apple CEO Tim Cook stated.

Apple reported a 16 percent increase in the amount of iPhones sold the last quarter, with 39.3 million smartphones last quarter, surpassing the 38 million predicted by Wall Street.

Still, the company is still yet to reach the world's biggest smartphone market-China on Friday.

Aside from that, Apple also reported a jump in amount of units sold (21 percent) as well as sales (18 percent) of its Mac PCs, despite global PC sales declining at 1.7 percent, according to research firm IDC.

However, despite the increase in iPhone sales, the company's iPads are reportedly experiencing a gradual decline for the third straight quarter.

Sales of the iPad went down over from 13.1 million units sold last year to 12.3 million sold in 2014, a decline of 13 percent.

The reported decline in tablet sales are said to be caused by smartphones having the capability of tablets-with larger screens and powerful processors similar to tablets today. In response, Apple released a thinner, more powerful iPad Air 2.
