Chili's restaurant in Westpark Plaza, Irvine, has permanently closed. A notice displayed on the restaurant's door announced the closure.
The notice read, "Chili's lease at Westpark Plaza expired at the end of 2020," as reported by the Orange County Register. Despite several temporary lease extensions that kept the restaurant open, Brinker International, Chili's parent company, decided to close the doors permanently this month.
However, the community has something new to look forward to. The notice also revealed that a family-owned dining establishment is set to replace the Chili's. "We are pleased to announce a family-owned dining restaurant will open in this location early next year," the notice stated, providing a glimmer of hope for local diners.
Details about the new restaurant remain scant, but anticipation is building. Meanwhile, some local residents are concerned that Chili's closure might be indicative of larger problems facing the chain.

Meanwhile, a beloved burger restaurant in San Jose has closed permanently, ending its 70-year run. On its last day of business this Tuesday, loyal customers queued around the building, eager for one last taste of their favorite burgers.
The co-owner, whose father founded the restaurant in the 1950s along with his partners, shared a poignant reflection on the closure. He expressed what he will miss the most about the business which has been a significant part of his life and the community.
