Breakout star Gina Rodriguez thinks her character in the new CW dramedy, 'Jane The Virgin' is her "dream role."

According to an interview with Backstage, Rodriguez wanted to play the accidentally impregnated girl by the time she reached page three of the pilot episode's script.

"To be very honest, I clicked with the writing. It was so easy to memorize," she told TV Fanatic. She thought the writer was "really good" and was even more impressed when she found out that Jennie Snyder Urman was, in fact, "white."

Though not written by a Latina, the 'Filly Brown' star thought the script was "so authentic!"

She added, "But that also goes to show that you don't need to be of the same ethnicity in order to relate. It's a human story. It's a human story. Jane could be anybody. Jane could be any ethnicity. We would just change the Spanish to English and that would be it."

On the other hand, when Urman met Gina Rodriguez, she knew she found the perfect lead for 'Jane The Virgin.'

"As I left, she said, 'It can't be that easy,' " Rodriguez recalled her audition to Backstage. "And when she said it, I almost started crying."

After doing her screentests, the waiting game started and she almost lost her mind. She was just coming back from praying on the Santa Monica Beach when Urman called her to relay the good news.

Rodriguez also revealed that 'Jane The Virgin' was the role she was "praying for, waiting for."

She previously told The Hollywood Reporter that she had to turn down several roles that contradicted her principles. After graduating from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, she wanted to take on a role that would encourage not just herself but all the other younger Latinas in the world.

"Now little girls are going to look up and be like, 'There we are in different stories, as the heroes, as the people that win.' Every ethnicity deserves to own that story, because it's a human story," she said.

Gina Rodriguez appears on 'Jane The Virgin' every Monday on the CW.
