From the Tyrannosaurus Rex to the velociraptor, Steven Spielberg gave us perhaps the most memorable extinct characters in a film when he made Jurassic Park in 1993.
He followed it up with Jurassic Park:The Lost World and then the produced the very forgettable Jurassic Park III. And soon there's going to be a Jurassic World, produced again by Spielberg, whose first trailer is now out. If it's anything to go by, it might just set the bar lower for the franchise.
Set two decades after the original Jurassic Park, the trailer of the film starts with parents packing off their kids to Jurassic World, the dinosaur theme park that seems to have developed on the lines what was envisioned by Jurassic Park's John Hammond, but with slick additions like a monorail, kayaking and transparent sphere-based tours.
The film revisits the original wonder of travelling next to dinosaurs, which might just look a lot better on a 3-D or IMAX screen than it does in the trailer.
But in keeping with the general theme of the franchise, the scientists want more than just the existing dinosaurs and create a new one that is touted as being the most dangerous one.
Bryce Dallas Howard is the scientist who reveals that they have created the first genetically modified hybrid dinosaur and Chris Pratt (of Guardians of the Galaxyfame) looks adequately troubled by it.
However, we don't get to see the new dinosaur in the trailer, except for its feet.
The new instalment of the film seems much like the original with the evacuation of the island after the new dinosaur wreaks havoc and chases pretty much every living thing.
The end of the trailer features Pratt zipping with great motivation towards something with a group of velociraptors running alongside him, which is honestly the most ludicrous visual since the 'talking' velociraptors of Jurassic Park III.
