Time flies so fast especially in the tech world. Just recently, Sony Computer Entertainment celebrates the 20th birthday of the well-loved gaming console. To commemorate Playstation's successful two decades, SCE revealed a "Retro" edition for Playstation 4.

To celebrate and commemorate 20 years of success since the first ever Playstation was launched in Japan on Dec. 3, 1994, Sony Computer Entertainment celebrates the gaming console's birthday through a throwback version of its latest PS4.

"Retro" PS4, as Sony called it, will be sporting the well-known original grey finish of the very first gaming console made by the Japan-based tech giant. The throwback Playstation 4, which will come in a commemorative box, is given a €499 tag price.

As Sony's birthday present for its gamer loyalists, "Retro" Playstation 4 are only available for a limited number. Only 12,300 consoles will be up for grabs, just like the initial inventory of the very first Playstation game controller released 20 years ago.

You need not to worry if you will not be able to get your hands on the Retro Playstation 4 as Sony also released a new Anniversary-theme that has 90's nostalgia. The theme, which is still part of the 20th celebration of Playstation, features the look and the start-up sound of the classic PSone.

The theme pack, available for free in Playstation Sone, will be available for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita. Users of the said game consoles who live in Europe will be able to enjoy and download the nostalgic theme.

In its blog site, Sony recalled the two-decade journey of the well-loved gaming platform. "20 years is a long time! In 1994, many outsiders thought that Sony was slightly crazy to launch the original PlayStation into an incredibly competitive gaming market."

It can be recalled that Playstation One is the tech giant's first foray in game console industry as Sony is known in making electronic, audio equipments, and other consumer devices but not gaming consoles. But because game developing flourished in the mid 90's, the very first Playstation was born.

"The original PlayStation was meant to embody that sense of adventure and discovery, that sense that anything was possible." Sony, finally, thanked its avid fans and users for their support.

We sincerely thank you for joining us on our exciting 20-year journey. You have made every bump and scrape we took along the way worthwhile. And there's so much more to come!
