Hooters Menu: Chicken Wing Eating Contest Finale Taking Place on July 26 in Florida

Hooters announced that their annual chicken wing eating contest will its grand finale event on Thursday, July 26 at the original Hooters restaurant in Clearwater, Fla.

Hooters teamed up with Major League Eating for its grand finale wing eating contest tour, said a press release issued by Hooters of America, LLC, on Wednesday. It will end at the Clearwater location, where the finale and event will take place at 7:00pm EST.

"For nearly 30 years Hooters has been known for our original, fresh never frozen, world-famous chicken wings and so it's only natural that we mark National Chicken Wing Day with a wing-eating competition and a special promotion for our loyal customers," David Henninger, CMO, Hooters of America, LLC, was quoted as stating for the press release.  "We invite all Hooters fans to stop by the original Hooters restaurant in Clearwater Florida  and help us celebrate our heritage and crown the first world wing eating champion."

Those who will take part in the grand finale already won in their regional competitions, noted the press release, and are expected to eat around 120 wings in 10 minutes for the grand prize. The finale is also in conjunction with National Chicken Wing Day, set for next Sunday, July 29. On that day, Hooters will offer a "by 10 wings, get 10 wings" free specials for its consumers, at participating locations, stated the press release.

The Hooters Wing-Eating World Championship tour began on April 5 this year in Augusta, Ga., during the Masters Golf Tournament, which was also attended by Major League Eater Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas. Throughout the summer, twelve regional winners were chosen for the chicken wing contest finale, and they will compete for the title of "Wing-Eating World Champion," said the press release.
